Changes

This is another freestyle poem... Just let me know what you think... Again, was written in 2007, not recently...

Changes

Changes affect everyone
NO ONE is immune
To change is to promote the future.

It’s the ultimate meaning of life
Everyday, rotation, patterns...
Patterns that evolved as time flies past -
As changes occur

Changes lead to evolution.

Evolution comes quickly
Little bits at a time
Spurred by the changes
In our daily lives.

You cannot have one without the other.

Heartbreak

This is one of the oldest poems I've written... I think this was done in 2005, when I was a mere freshman in high school... Let me know what you think!

Heartbreak

Just one tear,
that starts the flood-
The first chip,
that causes the structure to collapse;
The final goodbye,
that causes the soul to cry out in anguish-
The chains that rise,
to prevent the pain from returning;
The final moment,
before everything gets closed off from the world.

Me

This poem is all about me... The style is just to find a random article, and just pick things it says that describe you. Here is mine. This was also written in the spring semester of 2007...

Not So United States

This is an original poem I wrote, also in spring 2007, when I was in the 12th grade...

Not So United States

When everyone wants their own agendas accomplished,
We end up in a verbal civil war
The policies are usually moral/religious
And everyone is in “the right.”
What has happened to the side termed “the wrong?”
Is it just the invisible not so noticeable religions?

Christianity seems to be the major factor:
NO Same-Sex marriages! It’s against the Bible!
NO Abortions! You're killing innocent life AND
It’s against the Bible!
Or, my favorite:
WE’RE the chosen land AND the chosen People!

Well, what about the Jews, your predecessors?
What about the Muslims?
What about everyone else?

‘We don’t care! Our way is the ONLY way!’

Sadly, this leads to the morality fights,
And nothing gets done.

Religion (especially in politics) de-unifies.

Recipe for Star Obsession

This one is called "Recipe for Star Obsession" - This was for a creative writing class when I was in high school.

I wrote this in high school, during the spring 2007 semester, I believe...

Here we go:

Recipe for Star Obsession

Start by selecting the star of your choice
(They can be young or old)
Mix in 3 lbs of fan sites and Yahoo™ Groups
Add a pinch of desperation
15 oz. of Determination
A handful of ‘Too Much Information’
Whip it into a frenzy
Let set for an hour while determining the star’s location
Then pour into pan and place in an oven for 20 mins.
Let cool, then frost with as much love and adoration as you please
Serve fresh

The Battle

This sonnet is called "The Battle" - Let's hear what you think!

The Battle

A momentary gain of massive love
Followed by a wave of powerful hate
Evil stands tall, strong, hungry high above
Determined to stand by and prevent fate
Though darkness stands, haughty and cold as night
A tiny flame of hope starts to appear
Lending to the world a small bit of light
Though not enough to extinguish the fear
Where is the trust that’s needed to overcome?
Singing loud to circumvent all the dread
The volume rises in a steady hum
Its power helps it to come out ahead

This battle has left a really deep mark
That shall continue to smolder and spark

Flamenco

This sonnet is titled Flamenco, and was written in honor of my gypsy flamenco class... That was some of the most fun I've had in dance in a LONG time!

Flamenco

Strength of movement in every toe and heel
Including too the arms and each finger
The way to live is the passion to deal.
Though you may be pulled straight through the ringer
Each piece of this dance is sharp and precise
You either do this correctly or fail
This requires time and self-sacrifice
No one ever wants to see a dancer flail.
The time you spend practicing and dancing
Means even more people will sit and watch
Can lead to flirtation and romancing
More credit goes to you - you are top notch.

Movement is the culmination of time
It cannot be explained in these few lines
